Legislation which would change several aspects of the health insurance industry in Illinois is advancing in the General Assembly. Governor J.B. Pritzker’s Healthcare Protection Act includes a package of proposals designed to restrict methods that insurance companies use to reduce the amount of health care patients receive.
State Representative CD Davidsmeyer says he is concerned about the costs to Illinoisans.
The proposal would make Illinois the first state in the country to ban prior authorization for in-patient adult and children’s mental health care. The measure now heads to the Illinois Senate.
