At least at this time, it appears Fayette County was able to avoid any major damage from a severe storm that passed through on Thursday evening.
The entire county was under a Tornado Warning for about 50 minutes for a severe storm capable of producing a tornado. The strong brought strong winds, heavy rains, frequent lightning and some areas that look to be aloft funnel clouds. But, it is not known at this time if there was a tornado touchdown in the area. Straight line winds were a factor in some areas, as well. Fayette County Sheriff Ronnie Stevens says their only report of any issues were of some trees down along and south of Illinois Route 140.
The aftermath of the storm led to skies clearing quickly with some daylight still left. And, a rainbow was visible in the sky.
