The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office say they have received information and it is believed the suspect is no longer in the area. The Sheriff’s Office says they have positively identified the individual and charges will be filed.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a subject who fled from a traffic stop early this morning.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office says that at about 5 am this morning, Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 57 northbound near Farina. While conducting a roadside interview with the driver, the Sheriff’s Office says the passenger switched into the driver’s seat and fled the traffic stop in the vehicle. That vehicle, a 2024 Infiniti SUV, was later located just north of a cemetery near Illinois Route 185 and 750 Avenue. The individual fled on foot and a search is underway.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office says the male subject is 45 year old Russel Rodriques Darnell. Darnell is a black male with short dreadlocks, is about 5’7″ and was wearing a black jacket and blue jeans when last seen. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office says if you locate the subject do not approach but contact the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office or area law enforcement.
