We are looking at severe storms for this afternoon and tonight over the area.
The forecast for today calls for a chance of showers and storms during the day today with a high of 80. Then, storms likely for tonight with a low of 66.
In the late Weather Briefing from the National Weather Service in St. Louis, it states There is increasing uncertainty in two distinct rounds of severe thunderstorms this afternoon. Severe thunderstorms are expected to develop in central and northeast Missouri early this afternoon and move east, with Hazards: 1” hail, 60 mph winds, a few tornadoes. Additional thunderstorms may develop within an hour or two after the initial thunderstorms across north-central Missouri. If they do develop, they will be moving into a
favorable environment for intensification. Worst case scenario: These additional thunderstorms do form and become intense. With Hazards: 2” hail, 60+ mph winds, strong
tornadoes.
The timing for the storms is to onset in our area between 4 pm and 6 pm and end between 8 pm and 10 pm.
