Construction on the new Evans Public Library building at Randolph and Eighth Street has picked up steam in the last several months and is moving along. While she does not have any for sure dates at this time, Library Director Jessie Blain says they are looking at being in the building at the end of summer.
The process to get a new building has been a long one as funds needed to be raised and the library district received matching grant money and then the whole preparation and construction process. And now that it is getting closer to the end of the process, Blain says its starting to set in that the end goal of a new facility is near.
With the new facility that will be twice the size of the current Evans Public Library location, they will be able to expand programs and services and we will hear from Blain about that tomorrow on Newscenter.
