(Springfield, IL) — Older drivers in Illinois could soon no longer have to prove that they can drive. A piece of legislation at the Illinois Capitol would end driving tests for anyone who is 79-years-old or older. Republican state Representative Jeff Keicher says it’s discriminatory to have older drivers show they can still work behind the wheel. The proposal passed out of a statehouse committee, but it may be on shaky ground going forward.
