(Springfield, IL) – A former member of the Illinois Supreme Court has died. Benjamin Miller died this past weekend at the age of 87. Miller was the first state Supreme Court justice to come from the Springfield area when he was put on the bench in 1984. Miller served on the court until 2001, and spent several years as chief justice. During that time, he was instrumental in creating the council that helped improve cooperation between the courts and other organizations when it came to cases involving family violence.
