A resignation from the Police Pension Board lead to a discussion about the Conflict of Interest Form by the Vandalia City Council.
At last week’s meeting, the City Council accepted a letter of resignation from Rob Thompson from the Police Pension Board. In his resignation letter, Thompson says he was resigning from the board because “I don’t agree with the State of Illinois demanding I have to divulge my financial information for a voluntary position.” The form is one that all individuals on boards and councils must fill out on an annual basis. Mayor Rick Gottman says it’s been an issue around the state.
Mayor Gottman said that Thompson was a good board member and he had no replacement at the time. He says the Conflict of Interest form does make it harder to find people to serve.
