A new study places Illinois near the bottom for the best states to retire in. A report by the personal finance website WalletHub used 46 metrics to determine their ranking, including cost of living, life expectancy and crime rate. Researcher Cassandra Happe says what hurt Illinois’ ranking was the taxpayer category.
Illinois also scored poorly in the health care facilities per capita category, ranking 48th in the country. According to WalletHub, the top three states to retire in are Florida, Colorado and Virginia.
