(Chicago, IL) — Illinois is investing an additional 160-million-dollars to address the migrant crisis in Chicago. The funding will be used to help setup an intake center, a winterized tent shelter site, and other assistance designed to help resettle migrants stranded at police stations, airports, and other locations. The state has already spent 478-million dollars in response to this issues. The city has allocated only 150-million dollars for migrant services in its 2024 budget, despite spending roughly 40-million dollars a month on asylum-seeker relief.
