It will be sunny, breezy and warm today and there is elevated Fire Danger day today for the area.
We will see sunny skies for today with a high of 75. Winds out of the south will gust as high as 30 miles per hour. Then, we’ll see clear skies for tonight with a low of 41.
It will also be a critical fire danger today for the area. Although we are not under a Red Flag Warning today (that is off to our west) the threat is still over the area. The National Weather Service in St. Louis says the combination of low humidity, strong northwest winds, and dry vegetation are favorable for dangerous and rapid fire spread this afternoon and early evening. A red flag warning has been issued for parts of central and eastern Missouri as well as a portion of southwest Illinois. Outside of the red flag warning, fire danger is elevated but not as critical.
