The Vandalia School Board held their monthly meeting on Thursday, just the day before the start of the 2023-24 school year. The board made some personnel decisions. The Vandalia School Board accepted the resignation of Kiersten Collingwood at Junior High Cheer Coach and Dustin Jackson as Junior High Track Coach. The Board approved the employment of Ember Lipsey and Ashlyn Roley as VES Teacher Aides and Jaci Reavis as VJHS Teacher Aide. The Vandalia School Board also approved a leave of absence for VES Teacher Aide Melody Reynolds for the 23-24 school year.
Meanwhile, today is the first day of school for the Vandalia School District. Vandalia Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jennifer Garrison says they are always excited for the start of the school year. But, especially so this year after the completion of the construction project.
For the Elementary School students today is a “come and go” day with the first full school day to be on Monday.
