With Illinois’ ban on certain semi-automatic firearms challenged in the courts, legislators continue advancing other policies impacting gun owners. The House passed Senate Bill 218 Wednesday, which will allow for firearms manufacturers to be sued for what policy makers deem deceptive practices. State. Rep. Jennifer Gong-Gershowitz advanced the bill, which can now be sent to the governor.
Another measure, House Bill 676, does several things, including increasing the limits of where people can fire a gun from 300 to 1,000 yards near a residential area. Ed Sullivan is with the Illinois State Rifle Association.
After passing committee, HB676 is up for consideration in the House. Legislators adjourn spring session May 19.
