Governor J.B. Pritzker says he feels comfortable the no-cash bail portion of the SAFE-T Act will be upheld by the Illinois Supreme Court. The Governor is expressing optimism that the Pre-Trial Fairness Act will be allowed to be implemented. But, if that doesn’t happen, he says they will be back at it.
Governor Pritzker says he’s confident the law is constitutional and says he expects a ruling sometime in the next few months. In the meantime, the State Supreme Court has issued a stay while the matter is under review.
