The SAFE-T act was a massive piece of legislation passed by the Illinois General Assembly last year and is set to go into effect on January 1st. But, the part of the law that gets the most attention is the No Cash Bail. State Senator Jason Plummer says it gets his attention that so many of the State’s Attorneys in Illinois from both parties have voiced concerns.
And, Senator Plummer says another issue is added costs from mandates in the bill have led to smaller police departments to just shut down.
There will be a Town Hall in Vandalia tomorrow evening beginning at 6:30 pm at the Kaskaskia College-Vandalia Campus. Along with Senator Plummer, Fayette County Sheriff David Russell and Fayette County State’s Attorney Joshua Morrison will both be on hand. The public is encourage to attend.
