(Des Plaines, IL) — The Illinois State Police is installing additional Automated License Plate Readers on Chicago expressways. The new devices are being installed on I-90, I-290, I-55, and I-57 in order to combat crime. This is in addition to ALPRs already covering the Dan Ryan Expressway. The ISP received a 12-million-dollar grant last year to cover the costs of the installation.
