As we get set to head into the holiday season, the local numbers for COVID-19 are not going up dramatically at this time but are continuing at a steady pace. As for the state as a whole, the numbers are spiking.
The Fayette County Health Department reported 54 new COVID-19 cases for the week period from November 7th through 15th. That is up from last week’s total of 47 and the highest total in the past 4 weeks. Fayette County is averaging just over 7 cases per day over the past 4 weeks.
For Vandalia Schools, their latest report shows Vandalia Elementary School with 0.40% of the student population dealing with an active COVID-19 case, which is up from zero the previous week. Vandalia Junior High School has 0.19% of the student population dealing with a case, which is the same as last week. Vandalia High School has 1.54% of the student population currently dealing with an active positive COVID-19 case, which is up from 0.26% last week. And, 0.45% of the staff for Vandalia Schools is dealing with a case, which is the same as the previous week’s report.
As for the State of Illinois, the 7 day average shows 3,452 new cases of COVID-19 per day and that is up from 2,671 just one week ago.
As for vaccinations in Fayette County, they remain among the lowest for any county in the state. There have been 13,861 total doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered in Fayette County. And, 7,324—or 34.20%—have at least one dose of vaccine. And, 6,771–or 31.62% of the county’s population–are fully vaccinated at this time. Also, there have been 970 booster shots administered in Fayette County.
