(Springfield, IL) — Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker is running for re-election. The governor made the announcement yesterday, saying he’s excited to fight for the state alongside Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton.
Pritzker became Illinois’ 43rd governor in January 2019 after defeating one-term Republican Governor Bruce Rauner.
Meanwhile, there have already been some others announce their candidacy. On the Democrat side, U.S. Army Veteran, Registered Nurse and activitst Beverly Miles will run. On the Republican side, State Senator Darren Bailey, former State Senator Paul Schimpf and businessman Gary Rabine have announced they will run for the Republican nomination in the June 28, 2022 primary.
