In a weekend full of activity for the Illinois General Assembly, one issue that may have gotten a bit overshadowed is the vote by the Illinois House and Senate to approve the new Legislative Maps this past Friday. Many have talked about the issues with these maps drawn by the legislative Democrats. State Senator Jason Plummer talks about the effect that such gerrymandered maps can have long term in Springfield.
Governor Pritzker has stated in the past he would veto “unfair maps” but there is no word on what he will do at this point. The maps would place Fayette County in 2 different state senate districts and 3 different state representative districts.
