With less than 3 months to go until the November 3 election, several benchmarks will be coming in the future and the voting process will be ramping up. Applications for voters to fill out if they do wish to vote by mail this year have been sent out recently and there has been some confusion on what to do if someone receives an envelope for someone other than themselves. Fayette County Clerk Jessica Barker says they should mark the envelope with “Return to Sender” and put it back in the mailbox to return to the County Clerk’s office. For those receiving their application who would like to vote by mail this year, Barker says the voter needs to try and return their application in a timely manner.
Once, the application is received, Barker says her office will put the application through a verification process.
When returning the vote by mail ballots, Barker says voters this year will have the opportunity to return their ballots to a special drop box located at the courthouse as well as dropping off to her office in person.
Aside from vote by mail for those who wish to go that route, voters will still be able to partake in early voting in person at the courthouse prior to the November 3 election date. And we will talk more with Barker about that tomorrow on Newscenter.
