A group representing Olympic hopefuls across the world has joined
the chorus of voices lobbying to have the Summer Olympics postponed
until the coronavirus pandemic is under control. Many individual
athletes have already said they disagree with the current plan to
start the Tokyo Games as scheduled on July 24 after the IOC said it
is in consultation with the World Health Organization and believes
it’s too early to make a decision.

A second Senators player has tested positive for the coronavirus
after a different Ottawa player was the first known positive case
in the NHL. The Senators played a three-game California road trip
from March 7-11 with games in San Jose, Anaheim and Los Angeles
before the NHL suspended its season. A total of 52 people were with
Ottawa on the road trip and have all been ordered to
self-quarantine, with eight having been tested.
The Bruins have committed $1.5 million to pay the part-time arena
workers at TD Garden who are unable to work during the suspension
of the NHL and NBA. The Bruins have six home games scheduled for
the rest of the regular season and sit atop the Eastern Conference
with 100 points.
The Ice Hockey World Championship has become the latest major

Running back Kenyan Drake has agreed to remain with the Cardinals
on a one-year, $8.5 million tender after the team placed the
transition tag on him earlier this week. Drake could have sought a
contract elsewhere, with Arizona having the opportunity to match.
The 26-year-old Alabama product was a midseason acquisition for the
Cardinals last year and rushed for 643 yards and eight touchdowns
in eight games with Arizona.
The Raiders and wide receiver Nelson Agholor have agreed to a
one-year contract. Agholor spent his first five seasons with the
Eagles and had 39 catches for 363 yards with three touchdowns last
season in 11 games while dealing with a knee injury. Agholor gives
the Raiders another pass-catching option alongside deep threat
Tyrell Williams and slot receiver Hunter Renfrow.
Wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders has agreed to a two-year deal with
the Saints, according to ESPN. The 10-year veteran was acquired
midseason by the 49ers to help in their run to the Super Bowl,
providing 36 catches and 502 receiving yards in 10 games with San
Francisco. Sanders spent his first four seasons in Pittsburgh
before moving on to Denver in 2014. Only eight active NFL players
have more career receiving yards than Sanders’ 7,893.
Philip Rivers made his move to the Colts official by signing a
one-year, $25 million deal that he and the team agreed to earlier
in the week. The move closes the book on his 16-year career with
the Chargers, for whom he started 224 consecutive games and threw
397 touchdown passes.

Sophomore Tre Jones has announced that he will leave Duke to enter
the NBA draft. The ACC player of the year averaged 16.2 points and
6.4 assists in his second season with the Blue Devils, who finished
No. 11 in the season’s final AP poll. The 6-foot-3 guard led Duke
in assists and steals while finishing second in scoring.
Adam Silver said the financial situation for the NBA is “not a
pretty picture” during its shutdown. The commissioner said that the
league remains open-minded about its plans going forward but that
it is still too early to see how bad the financial hit will be from
the coronavirus outbreak. Silver had previously said on ESPN that
the league would consider a fund-raising tournament without fans in
arenas as an option to return to the court as soon as it is safe.
