Patrick M. Hickman, 75, of Shumway, Illinois, passed away at 4:25 P.M., Saturday, August 18, 2018, at his home, surrounded by loved ones.
He was born October 14, 1942, in Evansville, Indiana, the son of Robert Leo and Rose (Daily) Hickman. He married Louise L. Nighsonger, October 29, 1976, in Hoopeston, Illinois.
Patrick served in the United States Army Reserves and retired from the Maintenance Department of Lakeland College of Mattoon, Illinois. Patrick was an avid hunter, fisherman, and taxidermist and also loved woodworking.
Mr. Hickman leaves his loving wife, Louise after over forty-one years of marriage. He also leaves his three children, Kevin Hickman of Charleston, IL; Kathy Thomason (Jerry) of Charleston, IL and Jennifer Hardin (Calvin) of Arcola, IL; step-son, Eric Sprehe (Angie) of Metropolis, IL; mother, Rose Hickman of Windsor, IL; one brother, Dennis Hickman of Windsor, IL; sixteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Mr. Hickman was preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Hickman; one son, James Hickman; two brothers, Robert L. and Bernard A. Hickman.

A Celebration of His Life will begin at 11:00 A. M., Wednesday, August 22, 2018, in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Sigel, Illinois, with Pastor, Earl Brown officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until service time at the Church. Burial will be in the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens of Mattoon, Illinois. The Swengel-O’Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, Illinois, is in charge of arrangements.
