The Brownstown-St. Elmo 8th grade girl’s basketball team kept their undefeated season alive, beating Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick 38-28 in the semifinals of the Altamont 8-2A Regional. After taking a 9-5 lead after the 1st, BSE opened their lead up outscoring BCCH 11-3 in the second quarter for a 20-8 lead. Trailing 30-15 after the 3rd quarter, BCCH put together a 13-8 run in the 4th, but it was not enough to close the gap as BSE pulled out the 10-point win. Speaking on the win, BSE Coach Josh Behrends said it wasn’t pretty, but a win is a win.
Claire Wilhour led BSE with 16 points while Olivia Campbell added 11 points and Natalie Oberlink tallied 7 points. BSE will take on Altamont, who beat Neoga in the other semifinal game 31-18, on Thursday at 6pm for the Regional Championship Game.
