The Illinois State Board of Education last week released the annual Illinois Report Cards for schools and districts across the state. One key part of each report card is the designation that each school in the state receives. There are four levels: lowest performing, underperforming, commendable and exemplary. 72% of the state’s schools are designated as commendable with 10% rated as exemplary, 10% underperforming and 4% lowest performing.
The Vandalia School District has two of its schools, Vandalia Elementary School and Vandalia High School, remaining at the “commendable” designation while Vandalia Jr. High saw itself improved from an “underperforming” designation last year up to “commendable” for its designation on this year’s report card.
Ramsey School District also had two of its two schools reach an improved rating. Ramsey Jr. High made a big jump, moving up two levels from an “underperforming” designation to an “exemplary” designation while Ramsey Elementary has also been designated as an “exemplary” school while the Jr./Sr. High School remains at a “commendable” designation.
For the Brownstown School District, St. Elmo School District and the Mulberry Grove School Districts, they have all seen their designations remain stable with all 3 schools in each of the districts staying at the “commendable” designation.
Each school district is now required to report on their respective report cards at a school board meeting as well as make them available on their district websites.
