Seniors and people with disabilities can start applying for the state’s Winter Energy Assistance program starting today. The Low Income Energy Assistance Program, or LIHEAP, helps families struggling to keep the heat on says Illinois Office of Community Assistance Director David Wortman. The program makes payments on behalf of eligible households.
Visit your local Community Action Agency to apply. You’ll have to bring proof of income, current bills and more. Find a center near you by visiting www.liheapillinois.com or call 1-877-411-WARM.
