(Springfield, IL) — A Republican lawmaker is set to introduce a death penalty bill in Illinois. Barrington Hills Representative David McSweeney says he will either sponsor or co-sponsor a measure to overturn the abolishment of capital punishment implemented eight years ago. A moratorium on the death penalty in the state had been in place since 2000.
