(Springfield, IL) — Governor Rauner has an agreement with business and labor groups to reform the state’s unemployment system. Under the proposed changes, a worker would no longer be eligible for unemployment benefits if that worker commits one of a number if infractions before he or she was fired. Those including damaging company property, drinking or using drugs on the job, or lying on an application. Also under the changes, fired workers who are eligible for Social Security would no longer have half of their Social Security benefit deducted from their unemployment compensation.
