(Springfield, IL) — A pair of central Illinois Republicans want to explore the relationship between the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum and the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library Foundation. State Senator Jason Barickman and State Rep. Tim Butler yesterday said they want to see if the private foundation is making decisions that leave the state-run museum in a bad spot. The request for an audit follows a report that the foundation knew a top hat that reportedly belonged to Abraham Lincoln did not, but didn’t disclose that information when they asked lawmakers for help paying off a loan for the hat.
