(Chicago, IL) — J.B. Pritzker will be the next governor of Illinois. The billionaire Democrat celebrated with his supporters last night after cruising to victory over first term Republican incumbent Bruce Rauner.
Pritzker and Rauner broke national campaign funding records by spending hundreds of millions of dollars of their own personal fortunes. Pritzker will be inaugurated in January as Illinois’ 43rd governor.
As for Fayette County, Rauner took home better than 55% of the vote, compared to just 24% for Pritzker. In Fayette County, Independent candidate Sam McCann took home nearly 16% of the vote.
