The latest Illinois school report card shows an increase in the number of students enrolling in college. Nearly 75 percent of students are continuing on to college within one year of high school graduation. That’s up from 69 percent four years ago. Data also show a record number of students taking and passing AP exams, and the need for more diversity among the teacher workforce. State Schools Superintendent Tony Smith says while more than 52 percent of students are minorities, over 83 percent of teachers are white.
