There were multiple injuries from a two vehicle accident on Monday evening in St. Elmo. The accident occurred at 5:35 pm on Monday evening at 6th place road, which is 1/4 mile west of Ash Street in St. Elmo. Illinois State Police report say that a vehicle driven by a 17 year old male from Vandalia was backing out of a driveway onto 6th Place Road. A vehicle driven by 20 year old Jenna R. Long of St. Elmo was eastbound on 6th Place Road and struck Unit One in the rear passenger side. A passenger in Unit One, a 16 year old female, was flown to St. John’s Hospital by Air Evac. The driver of Unit One, the 17 year old male, was transported to Fayette County Hospital by ambulance. The driver of Unit Two, Jenna R. Long, was transported to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Effingham by ambulance. Illinois State Police reports says the driver of Unit One, the 17 year old male, was ticketed for No Valid Driver’s License, Failure to Yield from Private Road or Drive and Failure to Secure Child in a Child Restraint System.
