A two vehicle accident occurred on Saturday in Fayette County. The accident occurred at 12:57 pm on Saturday afternoon on U.S. Route 40 near 925th Street. Illinois State Police reports say that a vehicle driven by 76 year old James Williams of Brownstown was eastbound on Route 40 and was attempting to pass a combine. Williams’ vehicle pulled out into the path of a vehicle being driven by a Juvenile from St. Elmo and Williams’ vehicle struck the Juvenile’s vehicle and went off the roadway into the field. State Police say that the Juvenile’s vehicle was attempting to pass 2 vehicle and a combine at a curve in the road. Both drivers were ticketed for Improper Lane Usage and Improper Passing. No injuries were reported.
