(Springfield, IL) — The Centers for Disease Control says 80 thousand people died from the flu across the country last year. But Illinois’ public health managers don’t know how many of those people lived in Illinois. Melaney Arnold with the Illinois Department of Public Health said the state only tracks child deaths and ICU admissions from the flu, they don’t track adult deaths. Arnold says nine children died from the flu last year and about 23 hundred people were admitted to the hospital.
