It is definitely a tail of two different areas when it comes to the amount of rain seen in the past 24 hours. Reports to Vandalia Radio show those folks living north of Interstate 70 in Fayette County saw between 1.9 and 4.5 inches of rain. And, those reporting in the southern half of the county saw well more than that, with one individual reporting 9.65 inches of rain in the southern part of the county. The extreme variances in rain amounts in the county led to a lot of flooding and flooded out roads in the southern half of the county throughout the day and into the evening on Saturday. The National Weather Service in St. Louis says the heavy rains are over, but we could still see some lighter precipitation tonight and into the early morning hours on Sunday.
