As the school year gets started, the 3 short term goals of the Vandalia One program are set to get started. One of the programs has the school district working with the YMCA of Fayette County on an after school program that will be open to all Junior High and High School students. Vandalia Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jennifer Garrison says both the Junior High and High School will have two days each week with the after school program at the Y.
Michelle Alstat with the YMCA of Fayette County has talked in the past about introducing some different physical activities for the students. And, she also talked about deeper nutritional conversations and some real world concepts. As for the students, transportation will be provided to the YMCA on their days for the after school program.
