Governor Bruce Rauner and First Lady Diana Rauner are donating one million dollars towards the renovation of the State Fair Coliseum. The money will go to the Illinois Fairgrounds Foundation, which has been trying to raise money for several repair projects around the fair. The Coliseum was built in 1901 but closed in 2016 due to structural concerns. Governor Rauner says it’s time to get it back open.
The Governor wants students to pick the name of the Coliseum and will soon start taking suggestions.
