With the summer temperatures here and school now out for the summer, Fayette County Sheriff Chris Smith says now is the time to be extra cautious when out and about. With more kids out on bicycles and walking around town more enjoying summer vacation and with more motorcycles hitting the roads, Sheriff Smith urges everyone to be extra aware.
And with the officially here and Vandalia Lake being a top summer destination area, Sheriff Smith reminds adults to be smart when consuming alcohol and asks they do not boat and drink and do not drink and drive.
Summertime also means more road construction around the state including Interstate 70 between the Vandalia exits as well other areas of the county and drivers are also urged to take caution in work zones and obey the posted speed limits.
