(Springfield, IL) — Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner will have to decide what to do about a plan to notify the families of veterans any time someone gets sick with Legionnaires’ disease. The Illinois Senate unanimously approved the plan yesterday. Senator Tom Cullerton says the idea grew out of the 2015 Legionnaires’ outbreak at the veterans home in Quincy. He says families then only heard about the outbreak through word of mouth. The proposal would require a note be sent within 24 hours of someone getting sick.
