Paul DeJong had three of the four hits in defeat for St. Louis, which had its five-game winning streak snapped. John Gant gave up four runs in five-and-a-third frames to take the loss.

(Chicago, IL) — Ian Happ hit two of the Cubs’ four home runs in a 14-2 spanking of the Marlins at Wrigley Field. Kris Bryant and Javier Baez also went deep for Chicago, which snapped a five-game losing streak. Kyle Hendricks cruised to his third win with eight innings of two-run ball. The second of the three-game series is tonight.
