With singles victories by Hannah Blythe and Kiersten Dossestt, Vandalia ended up with a 5th place team finish in the IHSA Effingham Girl’s Tennis sectional. Hannah went into the tournament as the top seed and qualified for state on Friday with two victories. Saturday was a different story when she ran into tough competition from Allison Carder from Flora losing her semifinal match, 6-2 6-3. Hannah then faced Kaitlyn Deters of Teutopolis in the third place match and was defeated by her for the second time this season with a 6-1 6-3 loss. Solene Jaspard from Salem won the singles title with a victory over Allison Carder 6-1 6-3. Nicole Shan and Audrey Jensen from Olney won the doubles title. Teutopolis won the team score, advancing 5 players to the state finals. Hannah plays in the state finals Thursday in the Chicago suburbs.
