(Springfield, IL) — The top Democrat in the Illinois Senate wants Governor Bruce Rauner to go along with the gun control push at the statehouse. Senate President John Cullerton penned an op-ed for “The State Journal Register” over the weekend that urges the governor to sign the gun control plans that will land on his desk this spring. Cullerton said the governor can start with a law to require a three day ‘cooling off period’ for rifle purchases, then sign other plans that would raise the age to buy a rile or allow family members to call the police and have someone’s rifle taken away.
