(Washington, DC) — Illinois farmers are still a little while away from planting their crops, but they could be part of a big change across America. The USDA yesterday said it looks like farmers across the country will plant more soybeans than corn this year. The prospective planting report says farmers will likely plant 89 million acres of beans, and 88 million acres of corn. If the prediction holds true, it’d be the first time in 35 years that U.S. farmers have planted more beans than corn.
