(Chicago, IL) — One of the Democrats running for Illinois governor says a new tax on ammunition needs to be part of the national conversation on guns. Chris Kennedy yesterday unveiled his plan, which includes support for a federal bullet tax that could add 50-percent to the cost of rifle rounds and add 20-percent to the cost of pistol ammunition. Kennedy said he’d also like to see higher taxes on the weapons themselves. Kennedy said if Congress or the states won’t ban assault rifles, then they should at least tax them.
