(Springfield, IL) — Illinois‘ finances are worse than they appear. A new report says state government agencies are holding over two-billion-dollars in unpaid bills. State Comptroller Susana Mendoza said yesterday that lawmakers in Springfield didn’t include any money in the most recent state budget to pay the bills. In all, Illinois has just over nine-billion-dollars in unpaid bills.
