The rain is not going to stop for quite a few more days and it looks like some heavy rains are on the way, as well. Showers and thunderstorms are likely for this afternoon and tonight with a high today in the mid 80s and a low tonight into the lower 70s. Rain is in the forecast every day and night for the next 7 days. The National Weather Service in St. Louis says thunderstorms are likely thru tonight and isolated strong to severe storms will be possible this afternoon and early this evening with the primary threat being strong gusty winds—and locally heavy rainfall will be possible with these storms.
Meanwhile, heavier rains yet are on the way for Tuesday and Wednesday and could lead to flooding issues. The National Weather Service says a series of upper level disturbances and a slow moving surface front will interact with very moist air to produce several rounds of heavy rainfall producing thunderstorms thru the middle of the week. The National Weather Service says that a widespread three to five inches of rain across the region is possible with locally higher amounts. And, with the ground already saturated from the recent rains, it is expected lead to more flooding.
