(Chicago, IL) — The state panel that advises officials and lawmakers on the medical cannabis says more medical conditions should qualify patients for prescription pot. The Medical Cannabis Advisory Board voted today to add osteoarthritis, chronic pain syndrome, chronic post-operative pain, intractable pain and chronic pain due to trauma to the list, and they may add a few others. Governor Rauner’s state health department is not bound by these recommendations and last month rejected the panel’s vote to include eleven additional medical maladies. The first sale of medical pot under this pilot program is expected later this month.
