(Springfield, IL) — Illinois pumpkin growers say this year’s supply is a little slim and could get even tighter in the coming months. Illinois is the nation’s top pumpkin-producer, but a wet June is being blamed for a crop that’s off by as much as 50-percent for some growers. The result is that there are fewer pumpkins in stores and prices are up ten- to 25-percent. The crop down turn should not have a big effect on the availability of canned pumpkin products.
