The Vandalia Police Department and the City of Vandalia are teaming up to offer a $1500 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction connected to the criminal damage to property at Fairlawn Cemetery. A release from the VPD states they were notified Thursday morning of damage at the cemetery and upon arrival found that 25 headstones had been damage by either being over turned or broken. The release goes on to state that the Illinois State Police Crime Scene unit was called in to collect evidence from the scene. The Fayette County Crime Watchers program is offering a $750 reward which Vandalia Mayor Gottman said the city would match with $750 of their own for a total reward of $1500 for information leading to an arrest and conviction of those involved.
