(St. Louis, MO) — The Cardinals used a three-run fourth inning to pull away from the Braves, 6-5, in St. Louis. Starting pitcher Carlos Martinez tossed six frames of three-run ball to earn the win. He also helped his own cause in the fourth with an RBI-single and scored a run. Randall Grichuck and Paul DeJong homered as the Cards moved one win away from a sweep. The Cards are riding an eight-game win streak. Cardinals first baseman Matt Carpenter talks about the eight-game win streak.
Kurt Suzuki laced a two-run single in the first for Atlanta, and Brandon Phillips homered in the fifth. Starter Lucas Sims dropped to 0-and-3. The Braves are on a five-game slide.
