A 4 vehicle accident this afternoon in Fayette County led to multiple injuries. The accident occurred this afternoon at 12:34 pm at U.S. Route 40 at 1950th Street–between Brownstown and St. Elmo. Illinois State Police reports indicate a vehicle driven by 62 year old Sharon A. Durbin of St. Elmo was in a private drive at the intersection of Route 40 & 1950th Street when State Police say Durbin pulled from the drive and into the roadway. And, State Police reports say that oncoming eastbound traffic had to rapidly slow to avoid a collision. Three motorcycles ridden by 56 year old Patrick R. Lynch, 56 year old Christopher M. Robinson, and 52 year old Paul R. Ozog—all of Southfield, Michigan—attempted to pass the rearmost vehicle in the slowed traffic, but then observed Durbin’s vehicle in the westbound lane. The front motorcycle attempted to slow, lost control and fell over on the pavement. The next 2 motorcycles, in turn, struck the first motorcycle and fell over onto the pavement as well. All 3 motorcycles skidded down the pavement before coming to rest in the north ditch. All 3 motorcycle riders—-Patrick R. Lynch, Christopher M. Robinson and Paul R. Ozog—were all transported to Fayette County Hospital with minor injuries.
